"Taylor Roberts' 'Sanctuary' release masters enormous versatility and facility from burning bebop (Unit 7) to swinging melodicism (Things Ain't What They Used to Be) to contemporary reharmonization of modern rock...without compromising the unique voice of jazz guitar. An amazing feat! Bravo!" -Howard Paul, President and CEO, Benedetto Guitars

A 13-track Christmas-themed musical adventure with some of my favorite friends and musicians! The band features Juan Rollan on sax, Stan Piper on bass, Ben Adkins on drums, and vocalist Linda Cole, who sings on about half of the tracks as well. These arrangements were so much fun to create, and even more fun to bring to life in the studio with this amazing band. I’m really looking forward to sharing this music with you, and I hope it brings some joy to your holiday season.
The Raisin Cake Orchestra’s current lineup has operated together for just over three years and currently features DeAndre Lettsome on Alto and Soprano Saxophones, Evan Ruffino on Guitar, band leader and arranger John Chapman on Double Bass, and Ben Adkins on drums. All four members are veterans of the Northeast Florida jazz scene who have enjoyed opportunities to study, work, and record with many of the best jazz musicians performing in the Southeast while also recording their own solo projects, including Lettsome’s debut album, Impetus, Ruffino’s own Water Music, and Adkins’ recording, Salmagundi. The group continues to bring their repertoire celebrating the sounds of jazz in the South to clubs, halls, concerts, and festivals throughout the region with a groove that is both fun and fiery for the enjoyment of both dedicated jazz fans and casual listeners alike. This is only the “First Quarter”.
Impetus is about creating momentum. Momentum not only inside the music but also momentum in the start of a career. Impetus signifies stepping out from the shadows and creating a lasting mark in history. This record is an unapologetic presentation into the heart and mind of DeAndre Lettsome.
